Olamide vs HipTV Season 2: HipTV Speaks Out

The relationship between YBNL boss, Olamide and HipTV continues to be an issue of concern for teeming fans of the artiste and the entertainment house. It will seem that the dust raised at the beginning of the year by Olamide’s fallout with the Headies organization over the infamous NextRated blowout with Don Jazzy had not settled. Even though he was nominated and did actually win at the just concluded Headies, Olamide was conspicuously absent. His award plaque was returned backstage unpicked. His Olamide Live-In Concert 3, OLIC3, which was to hold a couple of days later was the obvious excuse, but still not enough to boycott Nigeria’s most prestigious music award.

When HipTV therefore didn’t do a live airing of the OLIC3 show, having done so in it’s two previous outings, many couldn’t but conclude that the beef is far from over. But in a move to dispel any doubts about such misgivings on anyone’s mind, the HipTV brand has come out to clear the air once and for all, saying their inability to show the event was not a reprisal, but rather because the deal to do it was not renewed.

Hear them:
officialhiptv@baddosneh not attending #theheadies2016 had nothing to do with HipTv not covering OLIC3. The organisers did not want the event live on TV. Unlike the last two, HipTv was not responsible for the production and this has nothing to do with our relationship with YBNL. We are cool, as a matter of fact, we were in attendance.
HipTV have spoken. While efforts to get Olamide’s explanation continues, we believe it’s okay to accept HipTV’s explanation as it is. Except you have another side to the story, we may have to let sleeping dogs lie. Or maybe Olamide will just switch the new season to Beast Mode! We are watching, chains ready!
