Barcelona coach speaks on gruesome injury suffered by star midfielder
Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has
dismissed fears that the club would not be able to cope with the latest
injury suffered by Spanish international midfielder Sergio Busquets.
The 28-year-old defensive midfielder suffered an injury on Sunday, January, 22, 2017 as Barcelona thrashed Eibar 4-0.
Serious concerns have however
been raised concerning Busquets' injury ahead of Barcelona's clash with
Real Sociedad and the 46-year-old manager believes that Ivan Rakitic,
Sergi Roberto, Andre Gomes and Mascherano can replace the Spaniard.
"The bad news is the injury to Busquets, but it doesn't seem serious because he will undergo more tests.
"I
have many options to cover for Busquets. We have just won 4-0 at Ipurua
and I will have time to think about it. I have many options. Sergi
Roberto is an option. Ivan (Rakitic), André Gomes, Mascherano. I am not
going to complain because I have many options.
"I liked Rakitic in the
defensive midfield position, he was particularly good. As were Arda and
Denis. It is the area of the pitch that we have the most options,
everyone offers something beneficial,'' Luis Enrique explained.
Meanwhile,
Barcelona currently occupy third position on the Spanish Primera
Division with 41 points after 19 games played this season and they are
two points behind leaders Real Madrid.
