President Donald Trump
U.S. President, Donald Trump has started filing paperwork for a second term run in 2020 for which he has already raised up to $9.6million.
Although he has not made an official announcement to campaign in the next term or made an official documentation however, he has filed a letter to the Federal Elections Commission (F.E.C) which has officially made him a potential and viable candidate for the next presidential run.
Opening up a campaign bid this early also ensures he can accept contributions and donations for his run as early as possible. This also gives him an added advantage. Seeing as he has already raised
$9.6million shows his message is very clear as he intends to win the presidential election yet again.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Donald Trump disclosed that he has already made his slogan “Make America Great Again” for his campaign and has it trademarked by a lawyer.
Donald Trump is laying further groundwork for a potential successful campaign in 2020 as he now has more contributors and sponsors added to the Trump Organization.
Although his first days in office has been filled with with protests, rallies and various backlash against his policies, this however has not stopped President Trump from ensuring his place for the 2020 elections. This is also one of the earliest documentation of intent to run for the next election by an incumbent President.
In the letter, President Trump addresses the F.E.C and asked to “accept this letter as my Form 2 for the 2020 election in order to ensure compliance with the Federal Election Campaign Act. See 52 U.S.C 30102(e)(1); 11 C.F.R 100 .3(a)(1).”
